  • Natalie Lee "Schatzie"
The donor of the boots, Natalie Henderson Lee “Schatzie”, is Dallas born and has been a life long customer of Neiman Marcus. She purchased the boots there in “about” 1969. Her grandmother, Blakey, was a friend of Stanley Marcus and was known to be his best customer. As a young girl “Schatzie” would participate in Neiman Marcus fashion shows. Her fascinating life included living in Santa Fe, New Mexico during the summers while growing up, attending the prestigious Hockaday School from fourth to twelfth grade, achieving a Master’s in Art History from Southern Methodist University. She also contributed to art history books for both the Dallas Museum of art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She and her husband were at a luncheon awaiting for the arrival of President John F. Kennedy before finding out about his assassination. Stating that the hippie movement was a reaction to the “square fifties”, she dabbled in some hippie pieces but is known more for her Hockaday uniform mentality. About the Charles Jourdan boots she commented that she vaguely remembers them, adding, “I had a high instep which made wearing high heels very uncomfortable,” before stating that she wore them with a long skirt.
