Ceborn (Sebe or Seed) Vaughner

VAUGHNER, CEBORN "SEBE" (1861-1942):  Eugene Ceborn “Sebe” Vaughner was born to Manse and Mary Varner on October 20, 1861, in Chambers County, Alabama. Sebe’s father was born in 1830 in Georgia, and his mother was born in 1846 in Virginia. Sebe had one brother, Joe, about whom not much is known. Later, Sebe’s mother, Mary, married a man named Abraham Lyles and had Jennie (b. 1876), Mike (b. 1873), Martha (b. 1870), and Andrew “Anderson” (b. 1875) Lyles—Sebe’s half-siblings. In 1883, Sebe and his family moved from Chambers County, Alabama to Pilot Point, Texas where Sebe married Mary Ann Billingslea (b. 1863-d. 1951) a year later on December 15, 1884. Sebe and Mary had six children: Irene (b. 1887), Effie (b. 1891), Jenny (b. 1894), Goldie (b. 1895), Lewis (b. 1897), and L. D. (Lover)(b. 1898). Tragedy struck the Vaughner family in1897 as Lewis died an infant just a few weeks after his birth. During his time in Texas, Ceborn was listed as a farmer and owned a wagon and a couple of horses. On May 2nd, 1942, at the age of sixty-seven, Ceborn passed away from a form of dementia contributed by arteriosclerosis and was laid to rest in Pilot Point, Texas.
