Death Certificate of Wash Davis

DAVIS, WASH: (1880-1925) Wash Davis was born in Alabama to Frank Davis and Patsy Vaughner Davis on September 12, 1877. Wash had a younger sister, Dora Davis, and by 1882 the family of four lived in Pilot Point, Texas. On September 12, 1918, Davis was registered for World War I, one of several community members to do so. However, it is unclear if Wash served in the war. In Pilot Point, Wash worked as a common laborer for the Fleet Line. Wash married Bertha Rice in Denton County, Texas December 26, 1924. Within a year of their marriage, on September 21, 1925, at the age of forty-eight, Wash died of congestion in their home. Wash is buried at St. John's Cemetery alongside his sister, Dora.
