Mary Turner Fourteen
FOURTEEN, MARY TURNER: (1881-1924). Mary Turner was born in June 1881 in Falls County, Texas. Though her mother’s name is unknown, Mary’s father was Calop Turner of Mississippi. Mary and her father moved to McLennan County, Texas shortly before Mary Turner married Ervin Fourteen on August 29, 1903. In 1920, Ervin and Mary lived in Pilot Point, Texas and had six children: Mary Jane (b. 1906), James (b. 1909), Robert (b. 1910), Odessie (b. 1914), Jack S. (b. 1916), and Gracie D. (b. 1918). In Pilot Point, the Fourteen families lived on S. Anbury Road and worked as farmers on land Ervin rented. On April 12, 1924, at the age of forty-three, Mary died of tuberculosis. Mary Fourteen was buried in St. John’s Cemetery in Pilot Point, Texas.
